Be Mindful
All pets entering the hospital must be current on vaccinations and free of fleas and ticks. All dogs must have a stool check for intestinal parasites and a Heartworm test within the last 12 months. All cats must have a stool check within the last 12 months.

The Doctors
Glasgow Veterinary Medical Center was first established in 1984. Our office has evolved over the years as the human-animal relationship (bond) has changed. Our mission is to provide exceptional, comprehensive, and progressive animal health care. In today’s busy world the need for veterinary products and services to be available under one roof has become a necessary convenience. We invite you and your family to stop by and give us a try.
Dr. Jim Heltsley
Dr. Jim Heltsley was born and raised in Hopkinsville, KY. He attended and graduated from Pembroke High School in 1959. He received his doctorate of veterinary medicine from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1974. While in veterinary school, he was a member of the Army Reserve at Tuskegee, Alabama. After graduation, he served as the post veterinarian at Ft. Knox, KY for three years. In 1977, Dr. Heltsley, his wife, Sandra moved to Glasgow. Dr. and Mrs. Heltsley have 5 children, 15 grandchildren and multiple four-legged grandchildren.
Dr. Randy Perkins
Doctor Perkins was born and raised in Barren Couny. He attended Austin Tracy School and graduated from Barren County High School in 1979. Dr Perkins did his undergraduate work at The University of KY and graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Dr Perkins has been with Glasgow Veterinary Medical Center since this time. He resides in Glasgow with his wife and pets. Dr Perkins has 4 children and 3 grandchilden (and counting).
Dr. Katherine Heltsley -Atkinson
Katherine Heltsley Atkinson was born in Auburn, Alabama while her father attended veterinary school. She was raised in Glasgow, KY, graduated from Glasgow High School in 1989, and attended Western Kentucky University. She graduated from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Dr. Atkinson has practiced at Veterinary Medical Center since 1997. She and her husband Derek have 3 children, dogs and cats.
Dr. Claudia Heltsley-Kuykendall
Dr. Claudia Kuykendall was born in Auburn, Alabama while her father was attending veterinary school. She grew up in Glasgow, KY and graduated from Glasgow High School. She attended Western Kentucky University and recieved a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. In 2001, she recieved her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. She and her husband Jason have 3 children and several pets.

VMC of Glasgow has a bather and we offer bathing, eye scoops, potty patches, nails (including dremel, anal gland expression, and brush outs. Half priced baths offered for our boarding pets. Your pet will be kept in a safe, friendly atmosphere and never exposed to unvaccinated animals. Why not combine the visit and schedule your pet’s bath appointments around its doctor examination?
